The Q65110A2367 uses a GaAs (Gallium Arsenide) or AlGaAs (Aluminum Gallium Arsenide) LED chip that emits infrared radiation at 850 nm when forward current flows through the PN junction. The 850 nm wavelength is in the near-infrared region, just beyond the visible spectrum (which ends at approximately 780 nm). While nominally invisible, 850 nm emitters may produce a faint red glow visible to the human eye in dark conditions due to the tail of the emission spectrum overlapping with the red sensitivity of human vision. The radiant intensity of 25 mW/sr indicates the optical power per unit solid angle, determining the illumination range. The low forward voltage of 1.5V reflects the narrower bandgap of GaAs material compared to visible-light InGaN LEDs.
