The SG3525AP is a high-performance voltage mode pulse width modulation (PWM) controller designed for switching power supply applications. It features a built-in 5.1V precision reference, error amplifier, programmable oscillator with sync capability, soft-start function, and dual totem pole outputs capable of sourcing/sinking 200mA. The device operates from 8V to 35V supply voltage with switching frequencies up to 400kHz.

The SG3525AP operates on voltage mode control principle. The error amplifier compares the output voltage feedback against the internal 5.1V reference and generates an error signal. This error signal is compared with the oscillator sawtooth waveform to generate the PWM duty cycle. The two output drivers operate in push-pull mode with alternate switching at half the oscillator frequency.
