The SJK-7L3276839PKA3 from Seiko Epson is a 32.768kHz tuning-fork quartz crystal for RTC applications. 32.768kHz divides by 2^15 to give exactly 1Hz for timekeeping. +/-20ppm tolerance ensures less than 2 minutes/year drift.

A thin quartz element vibrates in the XY tuning-fork flexural mode at 32.768kHz. The tuning-fork design achieves low frequency in a small package with low power drive level. The 32.768kHz output is divided by a 15-stage binary counter to generate 1Hz.
