The TLV5637 uses a resistor string (string DAC) architecture to convert 10-bit digital values to analog voltage outputs. The resistor string consists of 1024 equal-value resistors connected in series between the reference voltage (or ground) and the positive reference, with each tap point corresponding to one of the 1024 possible digital codes. A decoder switch connects the appropriate tap point to the output buffer based on the digital input code. This architecture ensures inherently monotonic output (output always increases or stays the same with increasing code) and excellent differential linearity. The output of each resistor string feeds a rail-to-rail output buffer amplifier with x2 gain and a Class-AB output stage, which provides low output impedance and fast settling while maintaining stability. The internal programmable reference voltage can be set to one of two values, or an external reference can be used for flexibility. The 3-wire serial interface receives a 16-bit data word containing control bits and 10 data bits, latching the data on the rising edge of the chip select. A power-down mode reduces current consumption to near-zero when not in use. The two DACs can be updated independently or simultaneously, and the programmable settling time allows trade-off between speed and power dissipation.
