The TAS5716 uses a closed-loop Class-D amplifier architecture that significantly improves power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) and damping factor compared to open-loop designs. The digital audio processing path accepts I2S/left-justified/right-justified serial data at rates from 32 kHz to 192 kHz, applying 8x oversampling with a fourth-order noise shaper for flat noise floor across the audio band (20 Hz to 20 kHz). The amplifier switches at 384 kHz for 32/48/96/192 kHz data and 352.8 kHz for 44.1/88.2/176.4 kHz data. The integrated PWM modulator generates the gate drive signals for the H-bridge power MOSFETs, with dead-time insertion to prevent shoot-through. The closed-loop architecture provides higher damping factor for tighter bass response and constant output power despite supply voltage variations. The device includes both hardware and software control interfaces, with an internal factory-trimmed oscillator eliminating the need for an external crystal.
