The STC15W408AS is built on a 1T-enhanced 8051 core that executes most instructions in a single clock cycle, providing dramatically higher performance than classic 8051s. The main clock source is an internal high-precision RC oscillator adjustable between 5MHz and 35MHz, though an external crystal can also be used. The CPU fetches instructions from the 8KB Flash program memory, processes data using the ALU and registers, and accesses 512 bytes of RAM (256 bytes direct + 256 bytes XRAM). The 8-channel 10-bit SAR ADC converts analog inputs at speeds up to 300,000 samples per second. The 3-channel PCA (Programmable Counter Array) supports capture, compare, and PWM modes for timing measurement, waveform generation, and motor control. The SPI port provides high-speed serial peripheral connectivity. The UART supports standard serial communication with baud rates generated by the dedicated Timer2. Multiple low-power modes allow significant energy savings, with power-down mode wake-up available through external interrupts, UART, timers, and a dedicated low-power wake-up timer. The analog comparator enables zero-crossing detection, level comparison, and brown-out functions.
