Working Principle
ST40 CPU runs the middleware (OpenTV, MHP) and application layer. Dedicated video decode hardware handles H.264/MPEG-2/VC-1 at up to 1080i without CPU load. Audio DSP decodes Dolby Digital and AAC. HDMI transmitter outputs uncompressed video. Conditional access module (CAM) interface and hardware security engine protect premium content. DDR2 memory controller provides bandwidth for video frame buffers.
Applications
- Cable / satellite STB
- IPTV set-top box
- Hybrid DVB receiver
- Pay-TV decoder
